Married On Parents’ Silver Wedding Day

ON the occasion of her parents Silver Wedding anniversary, Miss Margaret Dyson, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Dyson. 43, Beech House Road, Hemingfield was married at Wombwell Parish Church on Saturday to Mr Gordon Nadin, youngest son of Mr and Mrs. J. Nadin, 11, Stokewell Road, West Melton.

The service was conducted by the Rector, Canon G. W. P. Adkins, and Mr Geoffrey Pearson was organist.

The bride’s parents were married at Barnsley in January 25 years ago.

For eight years the bride has been employed at Priestley ‘s textile factory, Wombwell, and her colleagues gave her a chrome companion set. The bridegroom works at Wath Main Colliery

The bride was given away by her father. Her gown was of white nylon trimmed with Chantilly lace, beads and pearls and formed a long train at the back. Her head-dress of Mother-of-Pearl surmounted a waist-length veil of nylon net trimmed with French lace, and she carried pink carnations, white freesia, and lilies of the valley.

The retinue was formed by four Maids, Miss Brenda Dyson and Miss Janet Dyson, Jennifer Nadin (7), and Anne Dyson (10).

The two senior attendants were in pink nylon opera-top dresses with matching coatees. The gowns had ruched bodices trimmed with white lace motifs and diamante, and the skirts were sprinkled with lace motifs.

The bridesmaids’ head-dresses were of pink flowers and lace trellising, and they carried white carnations and freesia. The two little girls were gowned in white nylon over taffeta, with tulle hemline below ruched peplums. The dresses were trimmed with pink rosebuds, and to match the maids had muffs trimmed with flowers and pink head-dresses.

On leaving church the bride was presented with a horseshoe token by five years old Sandra Blackburn,

Best man was Mr Geoffrey Norman and groomsman Mr. Albert Ullyott.

The bride’s mother wore a navy blue costume with white accessories.

Following a reception at the Horse Shoe Hotel. Wombwell, the couple left for a honeymoon in Blackpool, the bride travelling in a beige two-piece with beige accessories, and grey nylon fur coat.
