Mr. R. Ellis (West Melton) and Miss B. A. Sweeney (Wath).
A former Yorkshire and Dearne Valley schoolboy footballer, who also played for Chester, Chesterfield and Denaby United, Mr. Ronald Ellis, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Ellis. 19. Oak Lea Avenue, West Melton, was married at Brampton Parish Church on Saturday to Miss Bridget Agnes Sweeney, of Wath, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. Sweeney, of Ireland.
The service was choral. Given away by Mr. E. Thompson, uncle of the bridegroom, the bride wore a turquoise blue two-piece, with burgundy accessories and carried pink roses. She was attended by Misses Eileen Sweeney, Lilian Barlow and Lily Wood, in pale clover coloured dresses, with navy blue hats and sprays of carnations. Two small attendants were Shirley Thompson and Shirley Ellis, who wore pink organdie and poke bonnets. They carried Victorian posies.
The best man and groomsman were Gunner Ray Ellis and Kenneth Ellis respectively (brothers of the bridegroom). Among the presents was a bedstead from Mr. and Mrs. Waddington (Wath), by whom the bride was employed.
