Wedding: Turpin & Thompson

Mr. Alec Thompson, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, West Melton, was married to Miss Winnie Turpin, South Shields, at Clifton York, on Tuesday. Bride and bridegroom are members of the staff of the North Riding Mental Hospital.

The bride was given away by her father, and attended by Miss Doris Thompson. Mr. Fred Oliver was best man, and Mr. J. Harrison groomsman.

The bridegroom is well known in sporting circles. He was formerly a playing member of the Brampton and Swinton cricket clubs and played football with Mexboro’. A football engagement at Gainsboro’ took him out of the district, but a fractured leg temporarily checked his football career.

A little over twelve months ago he obtained an appointment at the North Riding Mental Hospital (York), where he is a popular member of staff. His leg is again sound and has stood the strain of a heavy football season.
