Cpl. F.F. Sturgeon (Wakefield) and Miss F.R. Vernon (Swinton)

The marriage was solemnised at Wath Catholic Church on Saturday, Dean Dunkers officiating, of Miss Phyllis E. Vernon, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Vernon, 72, Brookfield Avenue, Swinton, and Cpl Paul E. Sturgeon, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Sturgeon, of Wakefield.

Given away by her father, the bride wore a two-piece in heavy blue silk comprising dress and short coat. She had navy accessories and her shoulder spray was of anemones.

The bridesmaid. Miss Vera Vernon, sister of the bride, was attired in a blue silk dress with brown accessories and also wore anemones. She received a gold dress ring from the bridegroom.

Best man was Mr. Wilfred Sturgeon.

The couple left for Blackpool, the bride travelling in a navy blue coat with accessories to tone.
