Young Egg Stealers.
West Melton Boys Bound Over.
Two diminutive West Melton boys, aged 8 and 9, appeared at Rotherham West Riding Children’s Court on Tuesday to answer a summons for having stolen 12 sitting hen eggs, valued 5s, the property of Fenton Thawley, on April 15th.
Silvia Hawley, day girl, employed by Fenton Thawley, said she saw defendants carrying eggs. They put them down in an allotment.
Fenton Thawley, labourer, of 108, Brampton Road, West Melton, said at 4 p.m. he visited his fowlhouse on an allotment. Later 12 eggs were missing. He found the eggs at the end of the allotment.
Defendants were each bound over in the sum of £2 for six months, and their parents were ordered to pay 5s. each costs.
