Obituary – Mr Henry Woodruff

The funeral of Mr. Henry Woodruff, a well-known Wath tradesman, took place at Wath on Saturday.

Mr. Woodruff, who was 54, was a native of Barnsley, but came out to Wath about 30 years ago, and was in the employment of the late Mr. A. Bramham.

He played cricket for the Wath athletic team for several seasons, and afterwards served as an umpire. For some seasons he captained the reserve team. In recent years he has been a familiar figure on most local cricket grounds, as the Yorkshire Council umpire, and has had the honour of officiating in a championship match.

For many years Mr. Woodruff took a great interest in the management of the Wath athletic club, and rendered excellent service to the football, cricket, and hockey sections.
