Another West Melton Recruit

Arthur Burton, 21 years old goalkeeper recently transferred from West Melton Wesleyans to Barnsley, is not the first player from that club to pass into a higher class football.

Before him went Mark Crook to Wombwell and then to Blackpool; Frank Nutter to Chesterfield, Moore to Wath, and Hayward to Wombwell.

Burton is expected to have a successful first class football career. For West Melton this season he has shown outstanding brilliance, and is delighting them now at Oakwell.

He stands 6ft 2ins and weighs 12st 6lbs so is exceptionally well-built for the job.

He is also a clever cricketer, and was a member of the West Melton Wesleyan team that won the Wombwell Sunday School League championship last year.

He is a nephew of Mr R Carr, a well-known figure in Dearne Valley Junior sports circles.
