Change-Over on Tuesday

Conisbrough’s new automatic telephone exchange, which, as exclusively announced recently in the “South Yorkshire Times” is to open next Tuesday, has been constructed of light stone to harmonise with the local scene dominated by Conisbrough’s historic castle.

About 375 telephone subscribers at Conisbrough will be able to dial their own calls when the exchange is opened, including direct dialling to subscribers in Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham, Mexborough, Adwick, Bawtry, Rossington, Thorne, Tickhill, Wombwell, Goldthorpe and many other exchanges. Call office users will be able to dial calls to Doncaster, Mexborough and Goldthorpe.

It has been necessary to change the telephone numbers of most of the Conisbrough subscribers and the new numbers appear in the telephone directory which will be distributed just prior to the conversion of the exchange.
