Former Manvers Welfare Officer to Captain England

F.R. Brown (Northamptonshire), former Welfare Officer at Manvers Main, who was with Hickleton when they won the Yorkshire Council championship in 1946, will captain England in the third Test match against ‘New Zealand, which opens in Manchester to-morrow.

Brown, former Surrey man, who has not appeared in Test cricket since 1937, has also been invited to captain England in the final Test at the Oval.
