Red Cross Gift
A ten year-old “South Yorkshire Times” children’s cornerite, Peter Hardy, of 11 Henry Road, Wath, has received a letter from Mrs. Churchill, thanking him for his donation of 10s. to her Red Cross Aid to Russia Fund.
The letter reads: “I am most grateful to you for the trouble you have taken to help the brave Russian, people in their terrible struggle.
To raise the 10 s, Peter, a pupil at Victoria School, lent his books to friends, charging one penny for library membership and one penny for each book borrowed.
