Swinton 58  Wath  76 for 6

Spectators at Swinton on Saturday were somewhat disappointed in the display of the home team, Swinton only compiled 58, and their form contrasted surprisingly with that of last week at Mexboro’.

Their biggest, scorer Williamson, who added 19 not out, got well used to the bowling of Cavill and would have run up a larger score had his partners been a little more confident. He was batting steadily and confidently when the last wicket fell.

It required little exertion on Wath’s part to knock off such a meagre total, and they declared after they had reached 76 with 6 wickets down. Woodruff contributed a 34 not out. Woodruff is an old Wath player, and was quite at home with the Swinton bowling.

The howlers of both teams had good averages, Pearce, for Swinton taking 6 wickets for 31 runs, and Cavill (was) securing 7 for 20.
