Three People and Dog in Canal
News has just been made public of a remarkable rescue that took place the canal at Wath on Thursday.
A 17 year old youth, George Biram, 15. Rother street, Brampton, was walking along the canal bank with his dog, when the animal fell Into the water. Biram, while trying to rescue the dog, also fell in.
.Another youth, Joseph Caddick, York street, West Melton, dived in fully dressed, but was unable to rescue Biram, and had great difficulty in reaching the bank himself.
Gerald Dale, who lives in Oakland terrace, Wath, about 100 yards away, heard shouts, and ran to the scene. He dived into the canal fully dressed except for his jacket, and managed to bring Biram to the bank. He was trying artificial respiration when the police arrived.
