Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Monday 30 September 1929

Wath Athletic 1  Denaby United 3

Wath Athletic lost 3—1 at home to Denaby United, but luck was dead against them, in the first minute Wilshaw, the centre-forward, twisted his knee, and for the rest of the game Wath played with only ten men. Wath took the lead when F. Moore headed in a centre from Skeels, but a minute later Angus tapped the ball into the net, owing to a misunderstanding with Eagle.

For the greater part of the game Wath were the better side, but towards the end the pace began to tell on them, and in the last fifteen minutes Denaby scored further goals through Hill and L. Smith.
