A Bride from North Wales

At St Peter’s Church, Ruthin, Denbigh, last Friday Mr Humphrey Manley Hamilton Ashwin, M.R.C.S, L.R.C.P., only surviving son of Mr and Mrs Guy Ashwin, “Coverleigh,” Wath on Dearne was married to Miss Ellinor Clinton Holme,  eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Clinton T.W.Holme, of Nantclwd House Ruthin.

The bridegroom’s father is general manager and agent of the Wath Main Colliery, and is also chairman of the South Yorkshire Miners Welfare Fund Committee.

The bride is a member one the leading families in Denbigh and the marriage aroused a good deal of interest both there and in South Yorkshire.

The bride, who was given away her father, who wore a gown of ivory satin, heavily embroidered with a train of old lace originally belonging to her great grandmother. Her veil was of old Brussels lace. She won a wreath and a string of pearls, and carried a sheaf of Madonna lilies.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Nantclwyd House, and later the couple left for Paris, the bride travelling in a great courgette frock and though the court of the same colour, but we grey fur and a small grey felt hat.

Dr and Mrs Ashwin received many wedding gifts. After the only Monday to settle at Finchhamptstead, virtue, where Dr Ashwin is commencing practice.
