Gunner Eric Manley, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Manley, of ‘Ashville,” Wombwell Road, Wombwell, formerly of Hough Lane, was married at Wombwell Parish Church on Monday to Miss Phyllis Scutt, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Scutt, of Winterwell Road. West Melton.

The service was conducted by the Rector of Wombwell, Canon J. St. Leger Blakeney.

The bride wore a gown of white silk and net, the veil falling from a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations. There were four attendants. Misses Dorothy Parkes and Joyce Atmore in dresses of blue satin beaute, and little Beryl Manley (niece of the bridegroom) and Margaret Willians (niece of the bride), both aged 6, in pink dresses with pink bonnet. The older bridesmaids had blue head-dresses and carried jonquils: the smaller maids had posies of anemones.

Mr. Ronald Widdison, of Hemingfield, was best man and Mr. Walter White groomsman. A reception was held at Mount Tabor Wesleyan Reform Church, Mitchell Main.
