Weight Lifters Medal

Ronald Thacker (18), son of Mr Mrs Thacker of 89 Queen St, Swinton, received this month’s silver medal from the magazine “Health and Strength” as winner of the world junior section.

The magazine presents a silver medal in each edition of their magazine.

Ronald has been a member of the Wath Weight Lifting club for over a year, and this is his first success.

An apprentice fitter at Manvers Main Colliery, he has little spare time as he is training very hard. Six days out of seven he trained three hours each day at the Pavilion, Wath.

Training is for a contest for the junior “Mr North-East Britain” at Sheffield City Hall on Easter Monday.
