A large crowd saw the start of the woman’s race in the “Times” events on Monday.

On the right is Mr Nelly Halsted, Northern Counties Champion, pressing the tape as she arrived at Wath, 12 seconds ahead of Miss Emma Caulfield of Bradford, last year’s winner.
